Many episodes of Seinfeld touch upon Jewish subjects, for example, “The Bris” and “Jewish Dating Night.” This course will attempt to uncover a more general characteristic of Seinfeld’s humor, namely the tendency to argue endlessly about everything and nothing. In all cases, it’s the principle that counts. The Talmud is the book that makes the Jews “The People of the Book,” and has imprinted a cultural style and practice that is unique among nations. We will study Talmudic passages through the lens of the Seinfeld- Talmud connection.
