This course begins with two famous ancient Tamudic bedroom stories with antipodal messages, but its focus is on how—1800 years later—these tales generate an astounding contemporary debate between two colors of black, two leading Haredi ultraOrthodox groups in Israel (who from the outside may look the same to others), but whose ethics and spirituality of marital intimacy are polar opposites – the Litvaks versus the Hasidim (as in the movie “Unorthodox”).
